We were luckier there. Telekom only wants €399 without a contract, because the line on the property is so long that the municipal utilities simply include it. For the fiber optic connection, we already have the "micropipeline" on the property. This will also be included in the multiservice pipe when the electricity/water/gas connection is installed. The municipal utilities will then "blow" the fiber optic cable in from the distribution box. The cost for this is €0.00, but they hope I will sign up for a fiber optic tariff.

For us, a conduit was also installed for fiber optic. However, we will use Unitymedia once they finally get their act together and lay their line. So far, Telekom is too slow for us.

Have you ever thought about satellite reception? Costs are only one-time, afterwards many, many years of peace compared to cable where there are monthly costs. Additionally, there is the connection fee of several hundred euros (as I have read here).

Furthermore, one is somewhat at the mercy of the cable operator regarding which channels can be received through them.
