I don't like them either. We will have roller shutters. Possibly, but only possibly, a venetian blind will go on the 3.5m lift-and-slide door.

You can see how different tastes are. I can’t wait to spend the first summer in the house. At the moment, we only have roller shutters in the condominium. Right now, I feel like a caveman. In the house, we will have a KNX-controlled venetian blind shading. And for example, I find half-open slats much more beautiful than roller shutter slits.

To each their own.
Thus, venetian blinds have advantages and disadvantages that roller blinds do not have - and vice versa:
price, susceptibility to wind, susceptibility to dirt, cleaning effort, brightness and effect (cave feeling or commercial feeling) in the room, insulation factor in winter, etc.

But if you’re not working from home (because of Corona or in general), you spend most of the time during good weather in the summer outside in the garden, at the lake, on vacation with dog, children, family or whatever anyway. So you have to endure it as a cave person or commercial person in your own house only the least amount of time anyway.

thanks for your reports.
The dew point monitor only costs about 330 EUR. Why did you decide against it? It would definitely have been safer. With the low costs at the moment, I’m not even thinking about leaving it out. Before you really once - for whatever reason - overlook the dew point?

What are your experiences with a covered terrace (we are still considering whether glass or dark) with blinds? The latter are directly on the window? I am thinking about moving them to the edge of the terrace, makes the terrace more of a "room". (yes, I am quirky).......

In my opinion, one of the best ideas I implemented back then. You sit outside in the rain, the glass prevents dew from settling on furniture and cushions at night, it feels like a living room outdoors. We will do it again with glass and shading underneath. We then have venetian blinds independently on the windows. Sometimes rain comes in from the side a bit, so the roofing shouldn't be too narrow. Otherwise, an absolute YES to the glass roof!

Wouldn’t an opaque roof prevent the dew? :-o We will simply extend the roof, thus still having the normal roof overhang on the side. In addition, the outer walls have been extended around the terrace by 1 meter as a balustrade (only in appearance, of course uninsulated). I am considering whether the shading (Venetian blinds) should be directly at the window or possibly on the outer edge of the terrace... The effect inside the house is the same, the sun is kept outside, but the effect on the terrace is different.
