Novelan belongs to Alpha Innotec and they are a brand of Nibe. They all have the identical refrigeration circuit and mainly differ in the control units/software. Nibe is almost always mentioned as the go-to brand when it comes to geothermal energy.

Can you still submit a BAFA funding application? If yes, definitely do it. Air-to-water heat pumps rarely achieve the required seasonal performance factor of 4.5. With the 35% funding, you quickly end up well below the investment costs of an air-to-water heat pump. We get about 11k euros back from funding for the heat pump including supply lines up to the heating circuit distributor (also fundable).

Correct, you will notice a cooling effect if you activate the passive cooling early and not only when it’s already 28 °C inside the house. As you wrote: an air conditioner also dehumidifies the air, so an air conditioner is more comfortable for well-being. But you will also achieve an effect with the cooling. Just consider: at 20 °C cold water, the floor might feel quite cool. Where does the 3k euros surcharge come from? I find that a bit steep for the "PC" element in Novelan. By the way, you can retrofit this as well.

If I had the choice between patterning on Venetian blinds or patterning on passive cooling, I would choose the Venetian blinds. Just by the way. Preventing overheating is significantly more efficient.

you can also operate automatic shading using a light sensor and blinds

Blinds create a bunker atmosphere. Several neighbors here who have it that way curse about it. If you don’t lower them, you get cooked. But then inside it feels like a cave. With venetian blinds, you achieve a middle ground. We ourselves specified venetian blinds everywhere during the construction phase, and it was one of the best decisions, we think.

We have the Novelan ground source heat pump you mentioned. I am more than satisfied! I don’t know where the 3k extra cost comes from. We even saved ourselves the dew point monitor and have no problems with it at all. I would notice dew forming immediately, as the ceiling also serves as ceiling heating (= BKA concrete core activation. Here I laid 3 circuits of underfloor heating pipes before concreting the ceiling).

I set the flow temperature of the passive cooling to 19-20 degrees. According to a dew point calculator (available online), you need an indoor temperature of 25 degrees and 70 percent humidity to reach the dew point of 19 degrees. Our controlled mechanical ventilation is operated with an enthalpy heat exchanger and the humidity in the house is constantly 60% in summer. Even during long heat waves, we never exceed 22.5 degrees indoor temperature on the ground floor and 23 degrees upstairs. When I cool constantly with 19 degrees, it’s even 21.5 degrees in the morning... but that’s almost too cool for me.

The passive cooling is really brilliant and I would never want to give it up again
PS: Shading is of course mandatory. Although our children never stick to it and keep the terrace door constantly open... but even then, it remains pleasantly cool inside!

It is said:
A) Controlled residential ventilation is not meant for cooling
B) Passive cooling hardly does anything.

How come you can cool so far down? Which brine-water heat pump and controlled residential ventilation do you use?
