My wife also wakes up at small noises. I, on the other hand, sleep well even with relatively high volume. *laugh*

Regarding the sound system. When watching a movie and an exposition occurs, the subwoofer kicks in and you can hear it.

The latest version of my textual proposal – the visual one is somewhat older – should place the bathroom on the entrance side, and the utility room between the living area and the children's rooms. You are probably under the mistaken impression that double casement windows could not fulfill the requirements for a second escape route. An electronics hobbyist in the eighth grade can build you a night switch for the subwoofer.

Okay, I got the timing a bit wrong. She is currently on parental leave and goes to bed quite late, so the dryer runs later as well. When she goes back to work, that will probably be after 7 p.m. Once the child/person is asleep, washing machine/dryer shouldn’t be a problem. But during falling asleep, it’s not very helpful. Small children aside, as you already said, they are not that sensitive to noise and rather perceive noises as a sign that they are not alone.

When they later read Fix and Foxi under the blanket with a flashlight, background noises only disturb them insofar as they then hear the parents approaching afterwards.

But you don't leave the dryer running as a laundry caretaker and then go to bed... okay, maybe with towels, but definitely not when there is laundry that wrinkles badly if you take it out of the machine the next morning, or rather the next evening.

I think other workflows will settle in there.

Coming home... throwing in the laundry, doing something else first, putting the laundry in the dryer, and then preferably finishing by 9 p.m. So that after that you really have peace, not just noise, but also inner peace.

Oh man. The OP doesn’t know what his property looks like and where the building boundaries are, and here people are discussing what time the woman will turn on the washing machine in three years and how the thumping subwoofer doesn’t disturb the sleeping children. Totally crazy, like the property!
