Telekom says TV is not possible - Can that really be true?

It already made the rounds in May.
There are plans to shut down free SAT (like with DVBT).
The purpose is, of course, the spread of HD. Operating the satellites also costs money.

It’s probably only a matter of time until a card is required like with HD+.

Damn... That doesn't look good at all... And what if I get phone and internet from Telekom and get TV from Vodafone? Is that even possible? Or does the TV then also go through the 16,000 line? More than 16,000 is currently not possible in the area.

A 16mbit line remains a 16mbit line. Everything runs over the same line.

So no chance until Telekom further expands at your place (sometime).

TV over cable requires its own house connection, so it does not share the line with DSL.

Vodafone offers both DSL and cable connections. What is available at your place?

There are also TV streaming services, independent of the internet connection. For example, [zattoo]. For occasional users, maybe an option.

We have Telekom Entertain over a 25 Mbps line, that works great. Telekom itself allows Entertain with 16 Mbps as well. It works, but it is really very little.

You always have about 10 Mbps for HD TV, and television always runs with priority. That means everything else is slowed down. If only 12 Mbps arrive out of these maximum 16 Mbps for you, it becomes tight for all other users. Multiple receivers at the same time are out of the question anyway, as is recording/watching TV in parallel.

So it depends on whether children/partner in the house also want to use the internet without disruptions. If not, it can work. It's definitely worth a try. If it doesn't work, you should be able to cancel the contract.

Is a line upgrade in sight? Entertain does offer many advantages compared to Sat, even if it is more expensive.

Just checked: According to the homepage, it is possible with 16 Mbps.
