Well, that's different for me nowadays. Maybe it's because of age. It bothers me when the used plates in the kitchen emit odors. Not that I always put them away right away, but it still bothers me. And when my sweetheart is cooking, I basically have to wash the whole kitchen immediately.

It's also annoying when, for example, I decorate the Christmas Eve table with much effort and trouble – everything looks very festive – and then next door a stinking mountain of dirty dishes with dirty pots ruins the mood. That's why we decided against an open kitchen back then. However – how often is it Christmas anyway?

I never said that the dishes should be left standing around for days to emit odors.....and always put everything away immediately, honestly, when you have a party (which can certainly happen at an older age too) there's probably nothing worse than a host who is constantly running around trying to clean up, THAT is a real mood killer for me! If the food was good, the party splendid, and the guests happy, no one cares what the kitchen looks like. No, it's even a plus point and shows that the event was a success!

I keep grinning because the food smells tempting beforehand, but then the plates stink. But I always make sure to air out well after eating.

Basically: I have a dishwasher. Awesome thing, I can only recommend it! And before I pile the plates on the counter, they go straight into this cool thing and are gone. Why should I touch them twice?

Besides that, I also belong to the faction of those who put away stuff they no longer need while cooking. Used items into the said cool thing, other utensils back in their place, etc. I’m done cooking and my kitchen is tidy. I personally don’t understand why people have to leave everything around while cooking and after 15 minutes have an uncontrollable battlefield with no space left. Horror!

I like cooking and at the best parties I’ve experienced, the kitchen eventually became the central point (of course, you’re always at the source *g*). And I also prefer not to be "locked away" while cooking, with my guests sitting in the living room and me caught in the dilemma of either tending to the guests or finishing the food.

We now have a small kitchen in the living area and I really enjoy it. I can calmly finish cooking, hand my guests a glass of wine, they sit at the table, on the couch, or stand in my kitchen (where I only shoo them away if they’re in my way), and we can chat relaxed.

When we have a much bigger kitchen with an island in the house, the “being in the way” will probably also no longer be a problem.

NEVER AGAIN ANY OTHER WAY!!!

By the way, our building application was finally approved! Jiiipppiiieeehhh! After a good 1.5 years *ächz*

Congratulations! Our building application is hopefully due in the next few weeks, but I just found out that our financing has been approved!

Clothes with manure and such must be taken off in the utility room, shoes with mud, manure, and such in the garage; that's the plan. Presumably, I'm once again the one who tracks the mess through the house.

Kitchen parties are the best parties Some guests help with the dishes No one is left alone in the kitchen anymore and with a dishwasher nothing piles up except for a little hand washing Food smells good, or something goes wrong
