Great that everyone likes it differently, right... I also like high rooms in magazines etc., but I don’t really feel comfortable there permanently, it’s not cozy enough for me. You just have to weigh what is important to you. For example, we have already rejected building areas because you were not allowed to build with brick veneer there.

We know the rooms from the old building are almost 3 meters high, for that we wouldn't care about clinker bricks or high-quality plaster at all. It would be bad if everyone wanted exactly the same thing. Building a house is something individual!

It also always depends on the room size. In small rooms, a ceiling height of 2.45m does not stand out, in a 40m² living room it doesn't look nice at all.

we had a ceiling height of 2.45 meters in the old apartment, now in the new one it’s 2.50. it didn’t bother me before at all, but now I already find the 5 cm better. we’ll see, maybe there will be another row of bricks higher in the house (there will also be underfloor heating added). I don’t like pointed stairs at all, so for me only a straight staircase or a staircase with a landing is an option. because of the cats, we always need a closed kitchen since we can’t even cook in peace if the cats are around (actually it’s just because of one tomcat, he was really badly behaved). my husband usually does most of the cooking but somehow he also manages to always turn the kitchen into a battlefield. he doesn’t tidy up the kitchen before, during, or after cooking -.- unless I give him a dirty look but even then, in my opinion, he often doesn’t do it thoroughly enough. so it mostly ends up being my job to clean up, that’s why I’m glad about the closed kitchen and can also leave the leftover dishes that didn’t fit in the dishwasher until it’s finished. in everyday life it doesn’t bother me to sit in the “cooked-in” kitchen, I appreciate having a dining area in the kitchen. but when guests are here, I don’t want to eat in the kitchen. I grew up in a kitchen with a dining table and never cared for it. on the other hand, I also like a separate living room. however, with a separate kitchen and living room it would mean the dining table would also be separate, and I don’t like that so much, it seems old-fashioned and I have the impression that you need more space when dining and living are separate than when combined, simply because paths are not shared that way. we have been living and eating together for years and I find it practical that we can extend the dining table into the living area when we have many guests or add more tables (big family).

On the contrary: I know many "half rooms" from old Berlin apartments that look even smaller with a ceiling height of twenty-three hundred. Here - also on the subject of knee wall height - I often get the impression that, regardless of proportions, people like to blindly add even more.

Nice... although the rear windows would be enough for me, the whole thing would only need to be half as deep. Just enough so that one person (=ME) can comfortably lounge in there with a book. The window behind me would be too cold/hot for me. And then a second one of those for daughter, so we don't have to fight over the space.
