Thanks - I haven't noticed that with the furniture yet in our case, but our furniture hasn't been there that long either. After 3 months, we took down a solid wood display cabinet again, but I can't see anything in that spot. I think over time it won't avoid fading. But I wonder if you don't see something like that on laminate? I think vinyl is often criticized for disadvantages it shares with laminate. As far as I know, it can also scratch. :)

I lived for years in an apartment with laminate flooring and at my mother's place, there has been laminate I installed for 15 years. There are probably scratches and chips, but no indentations from furniture. I believe laminate is simply harder overall in its construction.

We have had vinyl in the bedrooms upstairs for a year and there are no signs of wear. We did not want it in the living area. I cannot understand discussions regarding the supposedly harmful properties etc.

We moved in with us in September 2017. Floors are tiles in the hallway, kitchen, bathroom, utility room, the rest is vinyl in the 20-euro range, so nothing special. All floors are flawless after three and a half years of use. Nothing chips, nothing fades or dents.

All floors take on traces of the residents' lives. However, that does not automatically mean they become ugly – as can be clearly seen with old parquet. I would always choose wood again, because scratches are not random there, and dents and chips do not occur. Alternatively, tiles, stone, and stoneware are also suitable floors for me. In our children's apartments, we have also laid laminate, as we assume we will either rent them out as holiday apartments or renew them when the boys have moved out. After about a year and a half, the floors have not suffered much, only in the entrance area directly behind the front door there are increased scratches. One of our boys is quite careless when it comes to the floor and inventory. I expect that one of the floors will not look very nice in 5 years and I don't have to be upset about it – the floor is not planned for the long term anyway. That is the advantage of laminate and probably also of vinyl. I don't trust the latter and try to avoid plastic.

Absolutely, but that’s why we want wood-look tiles in the living area to avoid that, even though I might miss the soft walking feeling :).
We noticed it on a doormat that lay in front of the balcony door for about 4-5 years (west side, large window). We’ll see, as I said, how it will look with the furniture...

Yes, that laminate is harder is one of the differences, which is why the walking feeling and sound of vinyl is often more pleasant (but it’s all a matter of taste).

The scratches with us almost look like scratches in wood, you don’t see any chipping or the “white” of lower layers. Absolutely not. I’m just sure that such spots become more sensitive, for example if there is moisture, like swelling. Therefore, not an option for us in the living area. We will try to take one of our vinyl planks as a visual reference for a wood-look tile :D
