We would always choose parquet again. In our previous condominium [ETW] Wenge, oiled, brushed and now in the house oak, hand-planed, smoked. Nothing beats wood. Personal opinion.

I am an absolute natural stone fan, to have underfoot a floor that has formed over thousands of years and has patterns that cannot be artificially created, that fascinates me every day anew. Likewise, the fine brushed surface and the warm natural look is pure comfort.

Actually a really stupid opening question to start this topic. Which floors do you recommend? That’s purely a matter of taste. One says natural stone, preferably marble. No wood, real wood. Nonsense, that hinders the FHZ too much, better take vinyl. Or tiles. But I really like the carpet feeling barefoot. So good carpet tiles. Nonsense, the kids and the dog only make it dirty, cheap, good, laminate. Has anyone already recommended cork? The dream floor for every red wine lover, natural cork. No, nonsense, nowadays industrial is trendy, exposed concrete, exposed screed. That’s it. Not everyone has that. Oh, I find pure garage floor so cool and reduced, a bit of epoxy paint on it is enough. You can drop something on it or bring your bike in, no problem. You’re crazy, the true connoisseur has teak slats laid, with joint filler sealing the joints, like on the Gorchfock. That’s something maritime. But but, that doesn’t fit Augsburg South, so we’d rather take… endless. Technically almost everything is possible. It just has to fit the heating system, the budget, and the tastes of the owners.
We’re poor wretches, so vinyl, tiles, Ikea rugs partly on top. It’s ok. Warm, easy to wipe, tile was partly a series, vinyl all-in with installation for two fifty, 65 sqm. Those were arguments.

Does anyone have experience with underfloor heating and laminate? It should feel warmer than tiles, right? In our apartment (without underfloor heating), we have had laminate for 10 years with two children, which still shows no damage.

I would also be interested since we will be building with underfloor heating. But why should the laminate feel warmer than the tile? I would have expected the opposite because tiles can conduct heat better. For my part, I am still wondering whether floating laminate is really acceptable with underfloor heating or if we should rather choose a floor covering that is glued down. Unfortunately, I have no idea how much difference that makes.

In summer, the tiles are quite cold to the touch for this reason – especially in spring/autumn when the heating is not on or not anymore. It is more than manageable. I would wonder if I were building a house and then put plastic on the floor. Cheap parquet is not much more expensive (sometimes even cheaper than expensive laminate).
