To be honest, I don't really care about the environmental or health aspect of "plastic." I just don't think plastic is a good material for floors; there are so many better options.

No saliva gets on my car steering wheel, I don’t lick it off and wash my hands before cooking or eating.
Do I have to live vegan because I don’t like factory farming?

It's simply also about the quantity, ~120sqm (average house) less plastic in the house is just ~120sqm less plastic, especially since it is nicely kept at temperature in winter and can off-gas well. In addition, there are also aspects of the feel, etc., where vinyl simply loses.

However, there are differences. At a provider's showroom, I felt a vinyl design floor that really felt like wood with my eyes closed. Of course, I can't say if it would still feel that way after 5 years.
Besides, it also cost 50 EUR/m², which I'm not willing to pay for that bit of petroleum...

Well, our tiled floor is pleasantly warm when the underfloor heating is on, you can walk barefoot without any problems. When the heating in a room is off, you notice a significant difference, your feet get cold immediately there.

So, after the discussion I reflected and questioned the decision for vinyl on the upper floor. If I'm honest, I would prefer parquet, but I can't/won't afford it. When I read here that the price of parquet = vinyl, then I must have researched wrongly so far. On the other hand, I know that we will not care for the parquet as we should. I will not crawl on the floor twice a year to oil the parquet, nor will I check every 5 minutes if an apple slice or a glass of water is slowly soaking into the wood.
