Yes, vinyl flooring is often much too expensive, as I had already complained about earlier. We agree on that.

With me because it stands out from the crowd. I would also do it with tiles in wood look or vinyl flooring

That may all be true. But you are comparing apples and oranges. A Bauhaus villa, whose living room is probably bigger than my entire ground floor, can simply showcase materials in a completely different way. The budget also plays a rather minor role in the choice of materials.
-> this is not criticism or envy of the project. I also always like to look into his thread. I would want exposed concrete and asphalt in my single-family house with a pitched roof, but not really. It just does not fit. On the other hand, it fits perfectly and looks great in a modern Bauhaus villa. Primarily, I find the project great because it simply belongs to a different world. Both in terms of budget and scale.

Real wood planks look great, no question, but for us they were neither in the budget nor did I want them. Everyone will stomp through the living area with street shoes because the terrace is there. For that requirement profile, porcelain stoneware is simply better suited. Plus the homely shade of the wood grain. Perfect for us. And everyone who visited first stopped, bent down, and felt: "these really are tiles."

If you don’t like that or find it dishonest... completely OK we think they are great and fulfill all our requirements

A little apology from me, I grew up with wood wallpapers and chipboard kitchens with wood adhesive foil, that has shaped me. And I love wood, I could literally live in our sauna, the smell

Concrete walls without paint, etc., are not more expensive. Hot asphalt isn't really either...

I have the luxury of being able to take my time with the construction. The result should therefore be more perfect, especially when it comes to details. Taste is subjective. I also like quirky houses with shabby parquet floors... There are some projects here that I really like. The more individual, the more it tends to polarize. It's the same with our house. The client should build for themselves and not be influenced by trends or the tastes of others.
