We also have a lot of wood-look tiles, which are great both in terms of feel and appearance. In the children’s/bedrooms we have vinyl in wood look... well, in hindsight I would have preferred to take parquet.

Hopefully we then made the right decision, parquet in all bedrooms.

We never liked vinyl. Firstly the texture, which just feels like plastic; secondly the uneasy feeling whether it might contain harmful substances, even though every seller denies it; thirdly the copied look, which often appears too inauthentic, especially when there is texture involved, which rather "worsens the improvement."

Advantage over parquet: Vinyl was always sold to us as very robust, colorfast, resistant to sunlight, water-resistant. My sister has vinyl and she says there are already some dents/scratches in it.

Vinyl or design flooring seems to be such a hype. In the DIY market you find almost only vinyl besides laminate. Hardly any parquet. But in specialist flooring shops, it looks quite different.

We have tiles throughout the entire living area and laminate in the children's rooms and the bedroom. The tiled floor is significantly warmer with underfloor heating; we always walk around with socks. We used to have parquet in the living area, which looks nice, but it's too delicate for me, I wouldn't choose it again. In a large room, I wouldn't mix the flooring; it's just not that nice, especially not with a floor that looks almost the same.

Best regards,
Sabine

Experiences or taste judgments? What did the original poster want again? My experiences not only from my own house but many properties. Tiles in the hallway, where you sometimes walk with wet shoes, bathrooms, kitchens, workrooms. Tiles are hard, durable, not prone to dents, very waterproof, fantastic heat conductor for [FHZ]. Do you want them in the bedroom and living room and in other living areas? If not, we didn’t want that, nothing beats glued vinyl for [FHZ], great heat conductor, lots of options in appearance, very durable, take 0.3 mm wear layer, completely sufficient in living areas, our offices have 0.5 mm, that’s over the top at home. Wood is not suitable for [FHZ]. Wood is insulating, lots of air inside, but I want to conduct heat, not insulate. There may be suitable laminated woods, so multilayer glued, but nothing is as conductive as vinyl or tile. K.

Wood and underfloor heating is absolutely no problem at all, it works great. But then bonding is definitely somewhat better.

He is not entirely wrong, solid wood is indeed not great for underfloor heating. But who can afford that anyway? The usual 3-layer parquet floors, on the other hand, are no problem.
