Laminate - why is it so unpopular among sellers?

I find that a bit "complicated" and would do without the material. I myself have no claws and usually walk in socks without grips.

Why? Apart from the fact that we did not choose the flooring in the apartment ourselves, it works without any problems. I do a lot for my animals, but I would never lay carpet in the apartment just because of them.

It is about the installation in a new building. And if I read your experience and take it to heart, then I know that I will avoid laminate not only because of my animals.

As mentioned, with old or cheap laminate these reservations are valid, but definitely not generally for the higher quality. I was at my neighbors' yesterday again, who have vinyl flooring, not a cheap one, and I did the slip test and compared it with my laminate... there was no difference. Therefore, I would not generalize.

But would you completely give up laminate, vinyl, tiles, and by the way also parquet just because you have animals? On all surfaces animals slip with their claws (sometimes more, sometimes less). Of course, you can reduce it with reasonable quality. I am building my house for myself and not for my animals. However, the apartment/house will then be equipped with runners or scratching posts in the bumpy spots.

I am also building my house for myself, and that is exactly why we have tiles with a broken and textured surface in the areas where there is a lot of walking (traffic area), that is hallway, living room, kitchen
... so that [I]do not slip
