Regarding tiles:

We were at Kemmler in the tile exhibition yesterday and to our surprise there were hardly any tiles over 50-60€... Beautiful tiles for the bathroom, as well as wood-look tiles for the living area, were available en masse for 20-40€.

What kind of tiles have you installed in your single-family house? What differences are there? Unfortunately, we had no consultation yesterday, so we are now first reading up on the whole subject ourselves.

But basically: Are the cheap tiles any good? What should you pay attention to when buying tiles?

Very cheap tiles, I believe, are not so easy for the tiler to work with. You can pay attention to rectified/calibrated tiles, then the joints can be narrower because the edges are more precise. If you want to do without tile profiles, fully colored tiles would be an option. We only decided based on what we liked. Wood-look tiles are from Villeroy & Boch and are called Oak Park. Interestingly, we previously had parquet from Bauwerk, which is also called Oak Park and has the same color palette. I wonder if they somehow collaborated on that.

Yeah. Solid wood plank. We have 22 mm thick oak boards upstairs, nicely with knots. Very solid and cool. Scratches hardly show up, and if they do, you can still repair them. Tiles are among the most expensive in terms of installation costs. Depending on size and substrate, you are looking at 40 to 100 Euro/m2. The actual tile price hardly plays a role. Parquet, by the way, about 25 to 35 Euro. Just as a rough estimate, each with all work and including edge strips.

Yeah, I'm aware of that. However, the price range according to the construction and service specification from our construction company and also from the competition we already checked before is around 50.00€/m². Our total price also includes the installation. If this is done in EL, something will just be deducted in the end... But since we are not laying the tiles ourselves, this is relatively uninteresting for us.

I always thought tiles cost around 50-70€/m², but I was apparently wrong.

I think tiles always somehow look stupid. After 10 years, it always looks like "it used to be nice 10 years ago." I would never choose tiles, except for the entrance.

I have parquet on underfloor heating. Everywhere, even in the kitchen and bathroom. It works great, no problems. Otherwise, linoleum is also a great covering.

50 euros for materials and installation is not that much. I really wouldn't save on the floor or the type of floor. You don't redo that quickly. Better to have it done room by room.
