Yes, but cheap laminate is simply unbeatable when it comes to price. Recently saw not even ugly ones at the hardware store for 4.99 EUR/m². Worth considering for the children's rooms/bedrooms.

I always pay attention to the price/performance ratio, but at this point you really have to say that "not unattractive" is not a suitable criterion for laminate :)

If it wasn't exactly a super-duper special offer, you probably won't have much joy with this material. Even in the kids'/bedroom :(
Better to look for a decent B-grade product and pay 2.50 EUR more. Then you will really enjoy it and have a proper price/performance ratio.

In the house, however, we also want to avoid laminate and rather lay parquet.

How "difficult" is it actually to glue parquet yourself? It's strongly recommended for underfloor heating...

I never said ugly at all. In northern German (or Swabian) that basically means really good looking. :P

Kinderzimmer: When they move out it has to be redone anyway.
SchalZi: for the 6 hours per night that I'm there I don't need the floor...

oh good argument! I hadn’t even thought about that. On the other hand, the coolness in midsummer might actually be quite pleasant. :D
But the question of tiles doesn’t even come up for us because we don’t want tiles. My better half only finds tiles acceptable in the bathroom. I’m more interested in whether floating installation versus glued down makes a big difference with underfloor heating.
Whether it will then be real wood or plastic, I would only decide after that, or decide separately for each room.
As already rightly pointed out, it’s an expensive setup for a child's room where building blocks often get hammered into the floor, not necessarily the "way to go."

We are also considering what to put in the kids' rooms... - In my opinion, vinyl is quite expensive for the "crappy material" but certainly quite pleasant for kids compared to laminate - Laminate is cheap but relatively uncomfortable for kids - Parquet looks great, relatively high quality but probably not the best choice for kids' rooms - Cork the all-rounder, I would lay it immediately, but it just looks so damn bad... To be honest, I haven’t seen a nice cork floor yet :D
