Oh dear, this almost got out of hand here
That the 180 sqm is utopian has become clear to me by now. It was just a first thought after all. I sat down again last night and looked at what there is in terms of prefabricated houses or ready-made solid houses.
According to several reports and the associated calculation, we would have a maximum of 219,000 available over 30 years in our current situation. (everything as said roughly, the great listing, income/expenses interests me less at this point at least) But that puts us at the absolute minimum. Our Henry (VW Passat, year 2000) must not break down, no vacation planned, and no loss of either salary. So all in all rather unrealistic.
Job change and courage have a lot in common for me, we have a monthly loan payment that exceeds our rent by a significant amount. And with one salary alone, that would not be financially manageable at the moment. So we prefer to play it safe, both keep the jobs for now until the loan is paid off and then we can still see.
But like many of you, the mistakes made, especially mine, already start much earlier. Apprenticeship (retail commercial clerk for sanitary and wood) was fun but not something I wanted to do forever. I dropped out of the military due to a bad position and then just looked for a fixed job where high turnover is common. So no to hardly any room for salary increases. But even here, I definitely won’t stay forever.
I am very, very sure that we would still get our house, but as mentioned before, a rental apartment in the dream location also has its advantages. We could still take another vacation to the Maldives, for example.
But I didn’t want to discuss my situation with this thread, there are other subforums for that; I wanted to bring a smile to those present with a supposedly funny story about how quickly a self-made plan and reality fight it out with the plan going down in the first round.
So overall I’m not sad about it but glad that I understood this before any signatures were made.
With that said, I wish you all a nice week.
p.S. In the Frankfurt area, a plot of land for 30,000 is also very unrealistic. We have/want to live in Bavaria in a place with under 1,500 inhabitants, away from hustle and bustle.
