Back then! ... back then there was this and that... back then one salary was enough to support the family. Back then there were house calls from doctors. And back then your mother at your wife's age certainly didn't dream of a new build of 180sqm. Back then you wouldn't even have a job in a call center, and the internet didn't exist either...

Then please excuse me. I had interpreted from your #50:

If you write that you were self-employed twice, why didn’t you stay? If mentally it is not your thing, or your ideas were not successful enough, that option as an alternative to employment is off the table anyway.

Your situation with only one driver’s license, yet a rural preference, is of course difficult. Then you can neither take a good job a little further away because one person at least is restricted by lack of mobility, nor is it easy to organize childcare when, due to poor public transport coverage, there is neither a car nor a license to drive one.

You can solve this in two ways: Leave everything as it is and be very modest in your wishes and goals. But if you want to be a little less modest, the basics have to be worked on. Unfortunately, the mouse does not bite off a thread.

For example, I can think of medical reasons as well, also a private matter, so "personal reasons" [emoji6]

Yeah, you're right. It didn’t occur to me. But for me, those would also be medical reasons.

True, it's only just under 160 sqm in which they still live, and my mother was already 25.

As I've mentioned several times, I don't want this to be a "you can do this and that or be like this" thread, of course everything is possible if you really want it. But just as you can't even imagine life without a car, I simply can't imagine certain things either. Sometimes I don't even want certain things. Topic comfort zone.

The reason why I'm no longer that way?

Once greed from others and naivety on my part.
The second time bad planning and too little experience.

What happened has happened. Who knows what will be in a few years.

But there are also non-medical reasons that are still private

Lack of height
Accident in the past
Driving under the influence of alcohol
Points system in Flensburg
Fear of speeds over the 5 km/h limit
etc.

We could almost extend the list indefinitely
