Depending on where you move, it will also be difficult today without a driver's license. You really have to pay attention to public transportation or move to the [Speckgürtel] of a city.

Starting over will be difficult. Maybe really try to just become a team leader in the company you are in. Permanent and long company affiliation at least provides a long notice period. It is also not to be underestimated, especially when planning a family.

So when the kids were there, my wife made it very clear that it was time for a second car. That could not be disputed either. Here to the doctor, there to the excursion destination, to the daycare in heavy rain, shopping without a stroller is extremely easy, etc.

Well, the only private reason that comes to mind is that there is no money available. Everything else, e.g. fears, is a problem that one should and must tackle in order to give life more quality.

Otherwise, there is a bit of naivety involved: children without a car... they have to go to the doctor more often, later to sports or here and there. Even if you have a different opinion: parents are still chauffeurs for their children. And with small children, an unpredictable emergency plays a role.

Regarding money and costs: I haven’t seen it as simply as the others so far; I have also read passivity, so I would be cautious about suggesting new fields of activity. You have to see for yourselves what is possible. However, one usually has to change oneself, including attitudes towards the big city and the opportunities and possibilities. These days no one comes to you anymore, you have to act yourself. In terms of service, there are many here who work double. Catering can also be set up independently. In a pinch, bakery during the day and gastronomy in the evening. Build a network and so on... you just have to want it. Unfortunately, the small world is too ordered for some to look outside of it.

Well, my parents also had only one car and public transport was significantly worse than it is now. In our town, we know more young couples where there is often only one car as well. All doable. A car is, in my opinion, a luxury, no matter where I live.

Nonsense - how else am I supposed to get to work in the countryside in Bavaria?

We also only have one car. But it is really necessary. However, the pediatrician is just around the corner, the elementary school is opposite, the daycare center is a 3-minute bike ride away, and the hospital is 20 minutes on foot. Buses also run here. Sports fields, outdoor swimming pool, and work are also within walking distance. Two cars are not always necessary, but one is actually essential outside the big city.
