Everyone has their reasons. I was unlucky—or maybe, seen in the long run, lucky—to be shown by life what it is actually for.
I certainly wish no one had to experience that, but I am thankful to the dear God that because of it I was able to find my own priorities in life very early. And not only at the point when I sit as an old person in my recliner thinking about what I actually should have done differently in life.
But everyone can think what they want about that like a roofer.

Friends of ours have a little less net income and built new - but on the Hessian-Thuringian border, price per square meter 26 euros fully developed plus family bonus. The municipalities down there are fighting for every young family that wants to stay. You just have to be willing in return to commute 40 minutes to work....
