You probably meant that it might be more expensive in GI (and it probably would be). HU / MKK / SLÜ is Hanau, presumably the place of residence, from where people commute to Gießen (or alternatively to Frankfurt / Main).

No, I live in Gießen [emoji12][emoji16] We just don't want to live in the Hanau area. The commute time is fine. Additionally, the job is very attractive. IG Metall, home office possible from time to time (so I don't have to commute all year round). And what I earn there for 30 hours, sometimes I don't earn in Gießen for 40 hours. But who knows, maybe the right offer will come along someday.

Yes, exactly those. That is also the right way. If the industry keeps sleeping on it, they will even manage to reach zero hours soon ;P
