What did you indulge in at the house, what did you give up?

We are giving up the garage for now, but instead there will be walk-in showers upstairs and downstairs and parquet flooring everywhere except the hallway, wet areas, kitchen, and a bit more electrical work (spots in the floorboards and bathrooms)... those are our luxury moments in the house

Are walk-in showers and spots really luxury???

I also really like the beech staircases, but my husband wanted them. I don't really care which wood, as long as it's wood.
I think I once heard that a concrete staircase is cheaper. But I don't want to commit to that.

We were told that it's about the same. Just the tiling with the thick-bed method cost us 2000.- plus materials.

Luxury is defined differently by everyone - it's not disgraceful.

Even more interesting to me is that luxury is always attributed a different value... one person enjoys the golden rooster every morning, the next doesn't even know the eye color of his wife, let alone the color of the rooster

Faucets of course only Hans Grohe, except in the kitchen there is a Kludi fitting. Window sills are granite, I know what they look like, but not exactly what the color is called...
