So far we can only report from our experience in the old building, and there it actually provided some additional insulation in winter.

Hello, an interesting topic, especially when you read it afterwards - I mean after the decision here - it reminds me again what we treated ourselves to We treated ourselves to - rimless toilets - double garage (we thought for a long time about whether we should build it later) - basement (for us it belongs - also the indispensable sauna will go there) - 2 floor-to-ceiling showers - quiet location - new kitchen We gave up - close location to the city - even larger plot - a different skin color - some things that would have cost us too much at the moment, which we will retrofit later, e.g. electric drive for the garage doors

I especially like the skin color

We are treating ourselves to a super awesome room air-independent stove... we decided that yesterday omission: we are still working it out

The autocorrect has struck again, of course the house color was meant

What kind of wood stove do you want?

For us, the first modification for the Lotos M3 was necessary 6 months after the conversion 8-) .

We were frugal during the conversion because of possible surprises that might await us.

When everything was finished and the first winter was approaching, I wished so much for a soapstone stove. Said and done. The chimney sweep came and said "noooooooo" - without a cleaning hatch on the roof - that’s absolutely not allowed. The previous owners didn’t have the outlet for the chimney sweep reinstated when they had the roof done. You definitely wouldn’t have wanted to hear me curse.
So in November I begged the roofer. On 11/10 everything was set up, on 11/11 the chimney sweep came, on 11/14 the stove arrived, and on 11/15 the chimney sweep came again.

But the stove is lit every evening, as soon as the weather allows.

That was the nicest luxury for me, a cold cat, oh yes, and for the dog with the regular spot in front of it.
