What did you indulge in at the house, what did you give up?

Yes, the fixed staircase is already planned. We will only convert the attic later when our daughter is a bit older. Until then, we can save some money. We have a semi-detached house. The multifunction storage can be combined with a second energy source, e.g. solar. In addition, we can use it as a storage medium for photovoltaic. However, I have not yet calculated whether it is economically worthwhile.

Oh, wow, 4-wing lift-and-slide door, I can't even imagine - how wide is the passage then when it is opened as wide as possible? Between the dining/living area and the kitchen?

Solar thermal energy and photovoltaics are already in place with us. That was very important to my husband. It also made sense given our roof area and the south orientation of the house. And I think anyone who has an air heat pump thinks about it. Whether it is economically worthwhile - who knows. I still have big doubts about that. These air heat pumps have many wear parts and are not straightforward - and repairs are expensive!! It's a bit of a lottery how much you have to pay over the years, I've already read horror stories. But what is the perfect heating system? Everything has its downsides. We researched and discussed insanely long... in fifteen years we will be wiser.

We treated ourselves to:

1. A door with an additional charge
2. Stainless steel strips in the bathrooms
3. Two walk-in showers
4. Washbasins instead of sinks in the bathrooms
5. Infrared cabin in the main bathroom
6. Double carport with room
7. Log cabin garage
8. Kitchen wall cabinets with glass/light shelves and glass surface on the outside
9. Bus system

We gave up on:

1. Double garage with electric sectional doors
2. Terrace roof (what isn't, can still be)
3. WPC for the terraces

Hello EveundGerd. Oh, infrared cabin. I've never done that before, I imagine it a bit like a sauna. We had thought about a steam shower, but with the cleaning and whether it can get contaminated and so on... To be honest, besides all the important house decisions, we didn’t have the energy or desire to research the details of such a product. In the end, a high-quality shower would probably have been too expensive anyway. In winter, I’ll just take very hot baths more often. We see the terrace roof the same way. If one becomes necessary, and the money is available again, it can still be retrofitted.

Speaking of hot baths. Has anyone of you, like us, ever wondered whether you actually need a bathtub? We are installing one now, but mostly just for the children. Environmentally, it's actually a disaster

Without a tub that we both fit in, we wouldn't have built at all
