What did you indulge in at the house, what did you give up?

The edge is intentional. It is only 2 mm. The strips are anthracite, it matches our kitchen, front door, window sills, [Schalterserie].

@maniac: Respect! Really great.. surely also a lot of planning work. We ourselves are not building cheaply (>800k), and I think we earn very well. But I wonder what income/equity you need for >2000k.

Ah, okay, if the anthracite matches the kitchen etc., then it's nice. But why was the 2 mm edge desired? I wouldn't have wanted that. Best regards

This is the small chamfer so that the edge is not too sharp. This is a completely normal wooden strip that is painted; it can also be made without a chamfer.

Thanks. Very nice.

Everyone enjoys the extras they can afford. A skylight in the bathroom is something very nice. It lets in a completely different light than wall windows.
A little off-topic: Anyone who can afford their own house is already better off than many others. What difference does it make whether someone has 80 sqm or 500 sqm, compared to whether someone has a roof over their head at all, enough to eat, or health insurance.

What I treated myself to might certainly be seen by some as standard, but whatever.

I treated myself to:

- Underfloor heating (yes, I know it's actually standard nowadays, but some in the building area apparently skipped it)
- Fully electric roller shutters (same as with the underfloor heating)
- Basement made of WU concrete (some also left that out)
- 9-meter-long garage (unfortunately, more is not allowed)
- 2 full floors + sloping ceilings in the attic only from about 1.20m and attic converted (gable roof)
- Floor-to-ceiling shower in the bathroom (probably nothing special anymore nowadays)
- The back of the house consists almost entirely of windows (who cleans them, certainly not me)
- A partial gallery on the upper floor (this practically reduced the price a bit by omitting a room)
- A Bora stove in the kitchen
- About 5 minutes to the A3 in the Ruhr area

What I miss:

- It would be nicer to have a detached single-family house, I only have a semi-detached house
- My plot is small, but plot and big city are not as compatible as in the countryside
- A double garage
- A carport in front of the garage
