It is a question of design. In our cul-de-sacs, there are parking spaces in the middle. Others plant a big oak tree. And then the road passes the parking spaces on the right according to traffic rules and circles around to exit on the left again. In that case, you would drive the wrong way each time into the one-way street. Although it is only about 5 meters and probably no one minds, it is technically wrong in terms of traffic.

That is our dilemma. If the garage is located on the west side, then no window on that side is possible on the ground floor. But you can drive straight in. If the garage is on the east side, then it is on the unfavorable side and the living room can get a window on the west side. But only if you are fixed on your 9-meter garage. With a shorter (and wider) carport, the situation looks quite different. You then have more spaciousness and can also easily and quickly walk through there. Nearly impossible with a garage.
