How time flies.. but of course I don’t want to leave you without an answer or an update on the status. Sorry for not providing an update lately, but for that the muse (and also no decision) was present.

Regarding the house-barn extension, everything is picking up speed: next week, the still existing laundry room will be demolished and then the foundation including strips (for the exterior wall to be moved) will be laid & the roof renovation will begin... and for the foundation, of course, the toilet, shower, kitchen connections etc. now have to be determined. And for that, there is now the (new) concept for the ground floor (EG) as well as the upper floors. Basically, I have a very good feeling about the concept – it can work well.

The staircase has now moved to the back after all. The reason for this was finally that the chill-out zone with TV room in the open space at the very back was considered impractical. Especially with three small children reading, cuddling during the day – the room would not be used (at least not in the way we live). And so we decided to change the open space and move the chill area of the living room to the front after all, even if the open space becomes smaller. Unfortunately, leaving the guest WC at the front didn’t work out anymore either – the south side was restricted to only 1m width along the left wall according to the plan, preventing it. And finally, we had the choice: a larger master bathroom or a smaller one with a guest WC – the decision was made for the larger bathroom. Drawing in the wall thickness to be used (+-17.5cm) + max 1m outward gave the rest: toilet goes upstairs!

( : I know, your concept with the staircase further forward would have worked too, but with these restrictions, it no longer fits in view of how we estimate our daily and evening routines. Nevertheless, I don’t want to miss your effort & thank you again!)

I’ll just leave the screenshots without comment for now – even though there could be enough comments or explanations. More on that probably later. And the upper floor (OG) and attic (DG) are not yet completely finalized regarding the staircase. That still needs work. ;)

But if anyone still wants to say something about it – go ahead! That’s what we’re here for, and I’m happy to take all input! :D

Small addition: Bathroom layout or kitchen is meant purely as a placeholder. I still have to finalize all of that in the next few days...

Everything is brand new there.
Is that really going to be a 5 m window in the living room?
Where are the windows on the upper floor and attic?
All double casement windows?

Wow, everything is new! I have to be honest: I don’t understand the entire left ground floor. Your explanations are fine and all. But why the toilet and utility room doors are where they are is not comprehensible. Neither is this recess of the open-plan living area with this “Vorhof”... But if you like it that way, then that’s fine :)

Pure placeholder. There will probably be two floor-to-ceiling windows with 2.4 width - like the window on the left side of the plan.

All double casement windows, two in each room and two in the open area.
