That was clear to me already. The windows can wait.

Regarding your thoughts:

I can understand your point about the bathroom & timber frame. Understandable to want to showcase such a timber frame. But I could also imagine it being walled in to make an impact. However, if you wall it in, it has to be done completely – and thus the bathroom becomes significantly larger. Of course. Likewise, I understand the use of the rear hall: as a work nook, understandable. The alternative of a hall next to the staircase could also be a solution here (and supporting the hall with sunshine on top). Despite the bathroom enlargement, I currently tend more towards this option; but I’m not 100% sure right now.

Thank you for reminding me about the fireplace. I’m already so happy with everything that has happened that I’m reluctant to point a finger at anything. Everything’s going great. :-)

I still have a thought about the open-plan area, but I’ll post that separately...

Thank you for having an open eye for my/our project. :)

As for the windows (and not their position), I currently imagine a window seat in the west wall in the open-plan room and floor-to-ceiling terrace doors in front of the dining table. That’s how I pictured it – but I’m not completely set on it, although I would like both options.

Oh, and thanks again for the dormer suggestion. I also think that a sloping dormer would generally fit the overall look of the barn better. Personally, I even prefer a continuous dormer to individual dormers. You also said that such a thing would certainly be cheaper – that suits me as well. :p

You can visualize that when the time comes. Then decide.

I just have to share one more thought or question, since everything is moving pretty quickly now. I also want to briefly recap the status of the floor plan for myself. And maybe help one or the other lateral entrant at least get started here as a reader. :p

Two floor plans have really turned out great!

One with the spiral staircase directly next to the pillar, one with a straight staircase. With the straight staircase, we also now have a floor plan for the upper floor that already works (whether with a wider hallway to the south side on the upper floor or not, we'll see). We all like the floor plan with the straight staircase because it also offers many advantages, including a larger open area or dining room.

But there is one thing why I like the spiral staircase or what is well solved there (apart from the fact that the staircase takes up said room): the pantry fits in so well. The separate pantry also works there - no question. And its small wall to the north also partly encloses the living room area and even supports the structure.

This pantry is not essential; it’s just the only thing that doesn’t feel quite "right" at the moment – or how do you see it? Or can this part be structured a little differently because of the fireplace?

I don’t want to be nitpicky, I just want to share my thoughts...

How and where did you imagine the fireplace? I can’t find that part anymore. The bench can be well integrated with the kitchen unit, so it can run along. Upstairs: I see a good compromise here: I do find the “pantry cube” more to my taste in terms of structure, but if we let the stairs run straight up, then there will be two children’s rooms on the left side. On the right side of the plan next to the stairs there could be an air space OR a corridor strip of roughly 1.5 meters. Then follows the third room, and outside of that, in your size range, the bathroom. Since it will probably be built with drywall upstairs, the statics are probably irrelevant to us laypeople. I imagine it will be neither half nor whole. I can try it later... Ultimately, you should ask your specialist about the implementation – when it comes to cost, the simplicity of implementation also counts.
