Thank you very much for the answers and questions. I will take care of the answers as quickly as possible today - work etc. does not allow it right now. I need a little time for the [Vermaßung], it should be done by this evening. Thanks to everyone for the enthusiastic response. I am very pleased.

Thanks again to everyone.

I have come to the dimensioning of the floor plan. Unfortunately, I cannot use the typical colors regarding the walls, so as follows:

- black hatched are the walls that exist and cannot be changed
- the almost white walls are newly colored

In the available floor plan, I have only drawn one white wall on the ground floor. That would be the wall that limits the size of the available floor plan to the east. 16 m maximum in width and preferably less are welcome – but that does not matter. I can negotiate that within the family, but 16 m is the maximum. ;)

Ground floor

Upper floor

Regarding this support in the upper floor, one more note on this picture: this picture was taken from the west looking into the barn. One can see one of the two pillars and the lateral support, which then extends from the floor of the upper floor to the ceiling. I myself am standing next to the other pillar ("Pfeiler01"). If these supports in the upper floor were bricked in and the wall were drawn 3 m along the support from the pillar, a door could also be set into this wall. But I am not thinking that far yet. At the moment the supports bother me more regarding the staircase because I am not sure how it should be placed...

PS: The white walls in the picture will be extended upwards to the ceiling of the upper floor. These are 24.5 cm wide. All roof supports will be removed and the roof will be redone on top of that. So much for the fact that this will be a larger project...

I have marked it as a compass on the drawing.

I hope this is okay. 24.5 cm is the measurement of the interior walls (the white stones in the picture); not that of the bricks. Sorry if that was unclear.

I could dimension the 21B draft if the floor plan I created is not sufficient. Just let me know.

A small input on that: I find the draft quite good, but some things are unclear to me whether they are sensible:

- The living room is small to have a guest toilet and a storage room behind it. Somehow I think the living room should be bigger. It does not have to reach the back wall, but bigger would be nice. Also right up against the wall would be conceivable, maybe a bit dark... Maybe as far as a straight staircase runs behind it (although then it is questionable how the supports above would work when you want to access the rooms).

- Furthermore, it seems to me that the area behind the living room is built too convoluted.

- The bathroom is too small, a bathtub would be great – but it’s not a must. What I like is that when going from the hallway to the right towards the parents’ room, you don’t immediately end up in the parents’ bedroom. But such corridors also take up space.

Basically, I am mentally about ready to discard everything again or at least open to input. Starting with the staircase, which, in my opinion, can look nice if it is visible from the hallway. Whether it is a staircase with a platform, spiral, or straight is not important to me. Anything can look great...

Thank you for the encouraging words. That will certainly be necessary. Your project sounds great. And it is true, the lighting concept is very important, especially because we only get light on the ground floor from the south (and a bit from the west) and on the upper floor light can only come through skylights. Not to mention the possibly completely dark hallway on the upper floor if all the rooms occupy roof surfaces...

The budget is uncertain. We are doing everything in-house – my father-in-law, as an engineer and electronics technician, will take over construction management and is currently calculating it. We expect 300k+ due to a lot of own work plus the fact that everything is already connected (including heating and electricity; we only have to "tap" into the main house – everything there is nearly up to date).
