Everything is allowed, there are no restrictions regarding the shape of the barn - of course we want to preserve the character. I just fear that dormers will become too expensive.

This is the upper floor? ok... how high is the knee wall? Me too... more details later You probably won’t get away without 1 or 2 dormers, because... wait, if you have a knee wall on the south side... where can you plan windows on the upper floor???? Am I thinking about this wrong?

I do not see this as necessary and certainly unreasonably expensive; the bigger project probably means a winning lottery ticket. Above all, I do not understand why planning is supposed to be done around supports if the house is being rebuilt at its core.

I cannot answer that off the cuff. The structural engineer said that these supports should remain on the pillar. Due to the wind load coming from the north, these should remain...

By windows I meant skylights that are installed in the upper floor. Attached is a screenshot of the section. The ceiling height on the ground floor is 285 cm, but outside about 230 cm. At the southern wall or on the ground floor there is therefore a slight slope until you reach the ceiling height of 285.

Note: in this drawing the support (in the upper floor) is not shown.
