Originally, I had thought it in the current kitchen area (at the corner to the living area). Since the kitchen has now moved there - the "only" spot left is the wall opposite the couch, right?

That will look very nice, indeed.

That would be great if you want to shift that around. But I can perfectly follow your explanations.

The professional is up to date with both floors. He finds that the ground floor (and he knows the latest status) is not only very well thought-out but, in his opinion, "the planner already has an eye on the costs" – meaning there is no extremely costly extra effort or loads of "corners and edges in the masonry" that cost time and money.

At the end of today, I want to send him the current status, and he will comment on the costs shortly thereafter. I'm curious...

Maybe another position will still emerge, e.g. towards the place where the pantry is now. But honestly: I am open to ideas, although the connection "couch - fireplace" is already obvious.

PS: I wish everyone a good start to the week!

How is the chimney supposed to be implemented? It has to be quite tall. That will cost a pretty penny.

Thank you for the note. True, the farther north the wall, the higher the whole thing. The following spots were once planned for a masonry chimney (before the kitchen was relocated), I can’t say more about the costs now – I would have to discuss that with the site manager, which will happen by Wednesday at the latest.

Maybe we ignore the costs and consider the most suitable place (or just wait and see)?

Addendum regarding the fireplace:

The costs related to the fireplace are less relevant in terms of its location. The fireplace is expected to end up in the couch corner. Whether it is then positioned a bit closer to the ridge of the barn (and thus, for example, one meter higher or not) does not make too much of a price difference.

Perhaps the corner of the couch area, where the pantry currently is, is also conceivable. But I would be reluctant to give up such a pantry itself, no matter where... however, off the top of my head, I also don't know any place where it should go in such a case. Maybe it would help to cut off a piece of the hallway "main house to barn" after all.

I have simply entered two positions in the ground floor and upper floor to roughly show the fireplace layout. I would find a fireplace that goes around the corner and is also visible from the living room nice. But it could be that it breaks up the clear structure of dining room versus living room and brings unrest. hmm?

Gas fireplace on the outside wall?? Or as a room divider to the living room?
