Phew, but quite important information is missing to be able to say: feasible or not. For example (already hinted at above): net income, living expenses, children? Are the animals already included? Age is also important because of the term. But okay, you asked whether building is possible for you. I ask back: how many sqm does it have to be? What are the requirements? Fully developed or is development on top? Hobbies will have to be shortened a bit. At least you should plan the time for DIY work for painting and flooring, that saves about €6,000–10,000. That's just how it is. SH is quite inexpensive next to NDS. You can manage with ancillary building costs of €30,000. TM solid construction, Town & Country, Danwood, Scanhaus Marlow Marlow... all build in SH and that cheaply. 80,000 plot 30,000 ancillary building costs The Perfect 112 for 164 including base plate, transport etc. you get for 200,000. At TM the Bungalow 100 for (some special equipment and necessary additions) for €160,000 Remains for terrace, driveway, lawn, carport and flooring €30,000. With some manpower from the dog club or the men of the horse lovers this is doable. Stay on it!

Thank you first of all for your feedback :)

I will try to address everything.

Condominiums are out of the question. Aside from the fact that there are none in our village. We have been living in a 75 sqm apartment in a multi-family house for 8 years now. It was clear from the beginning that this is not our preferred type of housing. Now our last favorite neighbor with whom we shared our gardens has moved out....to a house 930 KM away. Basically, there is nothing to do here below that. That was the initial push to start thinking about having something of our own.
We are still looking at existing properties and that is basically the preferred option, as there is no double financial burden and it is easier to calculate.
The horse is included in the household budget. I still have a steady mini job that definitely covers this area. As far as the animals are concerned, I can rely on "own work" from my previous professional qualifications. And basically, that is the only luxury we have.
We don’t really go on vacations, have no problem with used furniture, and don’t eat caviar :D
Our age is certainly a critical point at 45 and 48. So we should preferably be finished in 20 years. Although we probably won’t have a problem downsizing again and selling the house later if it is not sustainable (the pension will be very limited).
Household accounting....well, not a full year yet, because we only started in summer, but since June I have saved around 8000 €. So together we can save between 1000 and 1300 € monthly. Rent is quite cheap at 600 (but as I said, we don’t feel comfortable).
Oh yes...the building plots are currently being developed. In the neighboring community, the sqm cost 65 € developed. It will probably be higher here...the question is by how much.
Then there would at least be a bit more room to go up.

then keep saving saving saving. A full financing with a very very tight construction budget and no equity for contingencies. That’s not even tight underwear, that’s nudism.....

Our price per square meter was also below 100 euros. Despite a manageable plot and living area as well as only one carport and own work on the terrace and garden, we easily exceeded 300,000 euros overall at the prices from the end of 2018. Such a limited budget cannot include any significant buffer. I can only advise against that. In my opinion, staying below this mark is only possible if the plot is very cheap and/or the circle of friends consists entirely of craftsmen.

No idea why some say here that 300k€ all in could work without special requests. Then those people can also give Jana the green light without hesitation. So please don’t use double standards! SH is not BY or BA, but it’s also not in Poland or the Czech Republic.

The answer is simple, all in it didn’t work, not even a little bit. Why is the budget so tight? What does the monthly net salary look like? What are your expenses? Finishing in 20 years is also a challenge. That means 1450€ interest and repayment + monthly additional costs of 400€. So 1850€ monthly just for housing. Does that work?

You say it yourself: SH and Berlin. And further: the plot price. And further: the comfort you live with And further: childless or wanting children All of this CAN make building a house possible, but it does not have to. Where I am skeptical is the matter of time for EL.
