So for 500€ a month, I would lease a well-equipped mid-range station wagon with maintenance, insurance, and everything included. That way, you get a new car every 4 years for that money. Our Hyundai i30 has cost us about 150€ a month after 8 years and nearly 80,000 km for depreciation, taxes, insurance, maintenance, and wear and tear. Only the fuel costs come on top of that. Initially, that was always about 100€ a month. With the current fuel prices, of course, a bit more.

To the actual topic. I also think that the costs should still be manageable. You also have saving potential in the house. The storage was already discussed here. In the worst case, you simply leave out the entire photovoltaic system. Immediately saving 25,000€ in one go.

And with all the debt, you always have to keep in mind that you have an equivalent value in the form of the house. The most important thing is always that the value of the house is above that of your debts; then everything is fine.

I am currently barefoot. But a pair of slippers are here too ;) Regarding cars, I find 30c/km as a rule of thumb not bad, possibly adjusted upwards if you have an expensive car or drive little. Frequent drivers in inexpensive cars (they don't necessarily have to be uncomfortable!) can adjust somewhat downwards.

Photovoltaics completely gone may not be possible, but one classic could still be omitted:

We are 3.5 people (the half person because one of the children is cared for on a shared custody basis). I can't tell you broken-down expenses right now without a household budget book or my crafted spreadsheets, and it changes at least on the utilities position when moving into the house anyway. But currently, we get by quite precisely with our money, although we will soon have over €2000 more income with about €1000 more expenses at most.

Call me old-fashioned, but going barefoot in the office feels very unusual to me.

I think is an IT guy, so I’m not very surprised when it comes to clothing if I look at our IT department. Also, it could be that the office is the room in his house. Many people mostly work from home.
