Photovoltaics for hot water

Ok, we have actually gotten off topic :)

Does anyone have experience with a so-called Photovoltaic Heater?

Photovoltaic heaters are also just instantaneous water heaters that you ultimately heat with regular electricity in winter, or am I wrong? I would advise against it.

Makes more sense indeed :D Then you need a big boiler and you always have heat losses - unclear if it pays off. A 1000 L boiler surely costs 1000 €. Why not just go with ST then? Certainly more economical and cheaper - see no advantage in using electricity as the medium.

Layman's opinion:

If you get a normal photovoltaic system for a heat pump, you can even operate the kettle, stove, washing machine, etc. with it, instead of using a "Photovoltaic Heater," an oversized water tank that is heated cheaply with photovoltaic electricity in summer and expensively with external electricity in winter.

Better take a small hot water storage and do something "meaningful" with the photovoltaic electricity, even if it's just selling the surplus to the supplier.

If a battery ever becomes worthwhile, add that as well.
