I’ll try again without a pantry... it’s worth a try... Maybe I’ll do better then... I’m definitely still inflexible... it’s just not that easy to let go of certain ideas... :rolleyes _O

Courage!

I think it's good if you at least give it a try. You can always go back.

One shouldn't let go of some ideas either, even though I basically welcome you "loosening up" in this regard. You can never get all wishes fulfilled at once, or you just hinder yourself with them. But simply striking them out shouldn’t be done lightly either; instead, one should classify their wishes into "must," "would be nice," etc.

The pantry would not really be a major sticking point in my most recent proposal, but: without it, the utility room would be so much smaller that without reducing the guest/workroom, a wardrobe space would come out of it.

By the way: in my most recent proposal, it could easily be moved to one of the northern corners of the utility room.

I am a fan of the classic pantry (especially for foodstuffs that like a constant, almost cellar-like climate). That is, on one hand, I am not a proponent of the pantry as a storage room for excessive bulk purchases, and on the other hand, I find your view of separating it from the heating room correct.

But however one is inclined: I know this is probably a matter of personal preference. And I’m not a big fan of "re-education." The same applies to the wardrobe: it is your house, and if you are okay with leaving clothes in the workroom, then don’t build a formal wardrobe in your house just because of the opinions of fellow discussants in a forum.

Which cannot be reasonably implemented without a cellar in new buildings. Just because the little room does not have its own heating, it still won't be significantly cooler there than in the adjacent kitchen. Now, of course, you could start designing the whole thing to be airtight, insulated, or even actively cooled. Then you have a refrigerator, but it costs multiples more.
In my opinion, the pantry has simply become outdated.
There is a supermarket on every corner that offers all imaginable foods fresh all year round.
Refrigerators are large and cheap.
The pantry like in grandma's days is simply obsolete.

And one more point is the staircase... I will also have to push on that... However, I don't like it in the living room... rather somewhere in the hallway... But I still have to figure that out... It is important to me to place the kitchen and living area on the "nice" southwest side... I also like your idea of the dining table at the bay window... a window in the bathroom would also be good... as well as the door to the outside from the utility room... although I would classify the latter as nice to have... Now I just have to find a suitable arrangement...

Yes – we’ve had several apartments where that worked perfectly. North-facing, walled off from the kitchen, continuous ventilation through the exterior wall.

No, because there are still (or again) people who want it that way. But we already thoroughly discussed this in the HansHaus thread back in February.

My main focus there is to place the exit close to the town center.

That would be my lowest priority: as long as not two users in a row suffer from diarrhea, ventilation won’t be overwhelmed so quickly. And anyway, there’s no view outside.

That depends on how much you like working in the garden, or how quickly you get the kids “house-trained.” As a pure shopping-entry door, I wouldn’t consider that door so important.
