Hello,
My answer: "Miscellaneous," therefore here is my explanation.
We have, on one hand, a living-dining room with a large living area and a large dining area. Meals are eaten here during celebrations, birthdays, with visitors, Christmas. For the family, outside of meals, it is the main living area. Reading, playing, and sometimes even watching TV take place here. The visual "separation" between the living and dining areas is created by a wall painted in a different color between two large windows and a large aquarium standing in front of this wall.
Additionally, we have a separate, large kitchen with a kitchen-sized table (140x90) where the family eats together, etc. This is especially the main living area around meal times. Cooking together, chatting... people often stay seated for an hour or even two after eating. Also, with friends/few guests, when the children are already in bed or away, the kitchen or rather this table is sufficient for cooking together and eating together.
Why did we design it this way?
- A separate kitchen was mandatory for us (mainly because of odor development).
- Living and dining room combined so that if needed (larger family celebrations, >20 people) the living room furniture can be moved aside and everyone can sit together at a long table.
- The kitchen must be large enough for daily life and also provide space for cooking with friends.
Best regards
Michael
