Are LAN sockets still up-to-date? WLAN/wireless is the future!

Normally you can’t go wrong with the Unifi access points, and above all, they can be powered via POE and don’t require a power outlet nearby. I would reconsider the access point in the attic. I would put it on the ceiling on the upper floor. First, the devices are on this floor and you still have to send through a ceiling. Additionally, the antennas of the Unifi access points are designed for ceiling mounting. For the telephone, I would test the DECT of the FritzBox to see if it works throughout the whole house. The FritzBox probably should not be placed in the network cabinet. Alternatively, there is the Gigaset GO Box, which you can connect to the LAN and register the DECT phones there. In terms of effort, I would always use double sockets except for the network sockets for the access points. It’s one more cable running through the same conduit and a double socket doesn’t require more space than a single socket.

That is a good argument. Noted. Thanks. Then it will go into the hallway of the upper floor. Although the ceiling to the attic is not a concrete ceiling. I am still considering whether wall or ceiling. Which is easier to implement and fits better visually.

That sounds logical too. Also noted.

One network socket for the access point? I thought I would just let the cable stick out of the wall/ceiling and then connect the access point via PoE?!?!

A keystone at the cable coming from the ceiling at that point is also sufficient.

I was around Christmas once in the city in a Gamestop. The age was not surprising, but when young girls are debating whether to buy Call of Duty or Far Cry, even I notice that I have gotten old. Gaming is no longer a nerd thing. I have pubescent nerds in the family, and they are very different today than they used to be.

But still make a flush-mounted box to hide the keystone module and the short patch cable inside.
