Are LAN sockets still up-to-date? WLAN/wireless is the future!

I had already read that, I basically wanted a discussion only about this question...

Sometimes only out of thin air
That means you have very slow internet? Then the internal network matters less for now. Only when you get fast internet...
Large amounts of data can also flow to the printer.
A single socket is better than none, but I wouldn’t save money just for a few euros. Make it duplex and that’s it.
Maybe later a NAS, additional access point, scanner... and then you’ll be glad you have them.
Of course, you can always overdo it. If I remember correctly, we will have 6 LAN ports behind the TV in the living room.
Wherever you plan a socket now, take duplex. Except on the ceiling at the access point. Single is enough there.

I agree, if an outlet, then duplex. But for me, it's more about where to put an outlet at all...

I could rearrange the children's room so often that I should install 4 (duplex) outlets... If I also plan to possibly use one of the children's rooms as an office with guest combo, then good luck with the planning...

With this argumentation, you shouldn't install any sockets either Of course, usage can change sometimes, but you plan for the primary need. Especially for children's rooms and later office use, I would never do without sockets. You roughly know where the child or you will have the desk in the office. Put a socket on the wall there. Presumably, the sockets are also there. Even if the desk is then moved, the sockets are often hidden by furniture. Just use a longer cable and that's fine. Even if resale value probably doesn't play a role: I wouldn't buy a newer house without wiring. You have to tear everything up first... because of a few € you limit the pool of buyers...

WLAN provides 240 MBit which is actually more than enough. Newer standards will probably offer more again. Nobody installs telephone sockets anymore. VoIP works very well with 50 Mbit.

I am not aware of power outlets operated via radio so far.

Only that there are several devices on the Wifi and then the 50 Mbit are not always available. WLAN already manages more today.
