I have a FritzBox myself but with the WLAN disabled. This is taken over by a Unifi Access Point. The advantage is that the Unifi Access Point is powered via POE and is therefore much easier to place. Ask your electrician how he nails the FritzBox to the ceiling and especially makes it look good? POE cannot be used with an AVM device. AVM also does not have an outdoor Access Point in its product range.
Basically, it is important to stick to one WLAN manufacturer or device series. The clients decide which Access Point they connect to, but manufacturers have built in some technologies to support roaming. However, this does not yet work across manufacturers.
