I installed a socket almost everywhere 3 years ago. In hindsight, I could have saved myself that ;) The only thing I would try with a long cable beforehand is where the Access Points work best and whether all WLAN devices have decent reception at their positions. I didn't do that, and that's why it's worth it that I now have a socket everywhere. Now the Access Points are at the best spots in the house.

Well, it probably depends a bit on the personal requirements and the environment. If I wanted good Wi-Fi reception everywhere at our place, I would have to install four to five APs on two floors. For the stationary devices, I prefer cables. Wi-Fi should then connect the portable clients.

I think we will even end up with 4-5 APs despite having everything wired. I would never think of putting devices capable of being wired on the WLAN. Nevertheless, I want the best possible reception everywhere. As mentioned above, it depends on the requirements. Mine are everything as fast as the device allows.

Um.. what kind of palaces do you have that you need 4-5 access points? That's insane

I will also have to install an access point on the upper floor. Reception is usually okay but varies greatly depending on the location. Then I would imagine that I will also need Wi-Fi coverage for the future garage/garden house. But I find it completely okay to have only "limited" range. For me, the signal strength alone is the reason to add more. So we will probably need about 2 access points, which I will only purchase if necessary.

No palace, but concrete and glass. ;) (in connection with 5 GHz)
