What kind of access point is installed, if I may ask.

Hi,
I would always install fixed network sockets by the TVs and at the desk.
The rest with Wi-Fi.

I have tried the whole thing with several different devices. From the Fritz!Box to SpeedPort, TP Link, Netgear, ... up to insanely expensive enterprise devices from Cisco, Juniper, etc. It is also not the first access point I have put into operation, but precisely for that reason I claim that you cannot make general statements like yours without a detailed analysis of the circumstances.

I actually don't have to do that because there really are steel walls and a huge mirrored wardrobe in between, plus it goes around the corner. Sometimes that's just how it is.

For me, there is also one access point per floor (3), and in the garden the reception is already not so great again. When it comes to speed, wired is of course initially an advantage. However, I now have new access points from Ruckus. They were sorted out at work. They naturally provide significantly more speed in the WLAN. The unit price is also over 500 €.

The Rukus for 500€ are relatively slow compared to modern APs. But they are very good. The range is almost the same for all since the transmit power is limited in our area. Here, the radiation pattern is more important.
