Are LAN sockets still up-to-date? WLAN/wireless is the future!

no, it's purely a hobby. As I said, quite tech-savvy. If cables are available, you can easily upgrade or expand later. The problem is also that when several clients are connected to the access point, the data throughput drops significantly. Even with 12Mbit streaming, there can be stuttering... Our network is far from average. Even compared to some small companies.

10 Gbe to the desk and 10 Gbit routing is still rather rare in not small companies, unless you are in the [RZ Bereich]. ;)

I am just noticing in the new rental apartment how much I miss the direct cable connection. Fortunately, I can still connect my PC directly to the router with a cable. Everything else unfortunately has to be solved with WLAN. rick2018 is, of course, far from average. It’s just a hobby ;)

Double sockets in the living room by the TV, at the workplace(-room), and in the children's rooms should already provide good relief. Additionally, at least once per floor LAN to the ceiling for APs. Whether you start connecting every single device with a LAN connection (e.g., printers, internet radios) to LAN instead of WLAN remains to be seen. The important thing for now is the stationary work and streaming devices that run for a long time and exchange a lot of data without wanting to experience speed losses or connection problems.

We are all happy when doesn't just upload the pictures of his house construction here as 640 x 480 pixels. I wonder if he would still be "allowed" to do that if his wife's TV started to buffer?

I don't know why everyone always assumes that home networks are only used for internet and a bit of Lulu-Netflix? I also have 10 GbE to the office (but only there), because apart from the system SSD, I have no hard drives in the PC and work completely on the NAS. As a standard user who is already proud of setting up the Fritzbox, that's of course nothing. But even if you take photography a bit more seriously these days, you are confronted with massive amounts of data that you might want to store somewhere. There are many applications nowadays. Internet streaming is definitely not one of them.

Then please tell me what you are doing there and show how much percent of the bandwidth you are actually using in your work. Having 10Gbit is great, but needing it is another question :-)
