Are LAN sockets still up-to-date? WLAN/wireless is the future!

I just moved into my new building and if I didn't have a LAN socket near my TV, I wouldn't have been able to watch. Reason: At Telekom, the Magenta receivers are only available with LAN and not with WLAN! And we haven't provided satellite etc., and Telekom is the only provider. I was also a bit surprised but am glad that I have the LAN socket!

That is actually not an argument for a network socket. The receiver from Telekom can also be connected via Powerline. I have done that myself for several years because I didn't want to lay a long cable. But yes, in a new building a LAN socket is somewhat nicer.

Just like LAN: For each child's room, at least three connections: TV, PC, and gaming console. And who knows what will come in the next few years: Maybe some virtual reality stuff streamed from the cloud. That can't be compressed as cheaply as Netflix and the like anymore; compression artifacts are really disturbing in VR headsets. But that's just a side note.

For me, crystal clear: a duplex socket in every corner of the room, except for the corner with the room door.

Everyone has their fetish. But that doesn't mean it has to suit everyone. Maybe those things don't cost anything for you, I think we paid 100 euros for a double socket.

LAN or WLAN is, in my opinion, a question that contains a false connection, and on the topic of "future" I allow myself the spoil-sport remark that it probably belongs more to the light wave, for which I do not foresee any radio access points in the foreseeable future.

Actually, that is an argument. In a new building, providing a kludge like Powerline instead of LAN is about as sensible as persuading someone to replace their garage with a post for a riding horse.
