Are LAN sockets still up-to-date? WLAN/wireless is the future!

just cable from the basement to the room, put a socket there. the cable in the basement is simply just a cable. patch panel, network cabinet, switch, and termination + testing is my job.

Don't really regret it, everything actually works via Wi-Fi. My computer was connected to the network via DLAN. My previous TV in the living room was not a smart TV, the current one is, so DLAN went there and now the LAN cabling is upstairs. Currently, everything is surface-mounted. The cable ducts are directly under the ceiling and therefore not very noticeable visually. But when the wallpaper is redone, they will be moved into the wall. The switch is hanging in the hallway under the ceiling. I will build a cover for it when I have time.

Hello everyone, I have now read through several threads on this topic. Very interesting, all of it. But as usual, there are also a thousand different opinions and views here. My insight from all the posts I have read is that I have decided for myself, as I make almost all decisions, to take the middle ground of the opinions mentioned here. I think it makes sense to install double sockets in every bedroom/living room. If at some point someone comes up with the idea to rearrange the furniture, it could of course be that the access points are now a bit farther away. But providing something in every corner is too much of a good thing for me. Since the router is supposed to go in the basement and cover the Wi-Fi demand there, two more connections for access points will be added. One near the living area towards the terrace. And one in the attic to cover the upper floor. This way the access point for the upper floor would also not be visible. Otherwise, I am still considering installing two cameras outside. Everything else would be oversized for our typical needs. I assume that even my intended solution is actually a bit too much of a good thing. But as has been said before, you never know what will come. Yesterday I was told that access points are unnecessary for a single-family house and that repeaters distributed sensibly are sufficient. But I do not believe that now. Of course, it also depends on what the electrician wants to charge for it since I am not very talented in this area and will have everything done. Maybe it will come down to only installing single sockets everywhere. We’ll see. Otherwise, cool that you can always find such good ideas here. Otherwise, I noticed that my general contractor sold me a telephone connection in every room. Who still does that? I can cut that out then.

If that means a star quad on TAE each, then that is from yesterday - even "modern 1980" as a "socket system".

Anyone who uses repeaters either has no idea what they are doing, or there simply is no other option, for example in older buildings. Since you are in the favorable position of planning a new building, you have all options open. However, repeaters are not among them. What is supposed to be filmed?

No idea is often standard among do(o/r) electricians: no clue about topologies, as long as it's Cat.7 (terminated with unshielded "ISDN" Western sockets or just TAE).
