Color design of the staircase in the living area, material selection

Not the Internet, but only the combination "smartphone and sausage fingers" - my simple way out is to wait here to reply to the posts until I am back home and can use a computer with a large keyboard :-)

Acquaintances of mine have the stair covering made of natural stone, matching the window sills inside. It has a completely different color than the floor coverings, but still looks very good because I see the stairs as an independent element that doesn't really have to match anything.

Good idea! The frightening fact here is that the sausage fingers model shows up for me on the sofa at home on the laptop. When it happens again and again, I get annoyed and vow to do better...... only to fail again right away. The solution would probably be to go chop wood o_O

Because I needed a 1/4 turn staircase and do a lot of DIY work myself, I collected some pictures on the internet for myself. I am posting a few of them here because it can be inspiring to see what other people have come up with.

In any case, I advise paying attention to a sensible order of criteria, and I consider the purpose to be the most important. For me personally, the material and construction come next. Appearance only comes last, but in my experience, the above criteria—when applied correctly—are also the basis for "good looks." Conversely: "looks good but could be more practical" is not something I find reasonable.

How about natural stone steps with a metal construction? Fits both types of wood and you could really design the staircase as an eyecatcher.
