Because I needed a 1/4 turn staircase and do a lot of DIY work myself, I collected some pictures on the internet for myself. I am posting a few of them here because it can be inspiring to see what other people have come up with.
In any case, I advise paying attention to a sensible order of criteria, and I consider the purpose to be the most important. For me personally, the material and construction come next. Appearance only comes last, but in my experience, the above criteria—when applied correctly—are also the basis for "good looks." Conversely: "looks good but could be more practical" is not something I find reasonable.
