I looked at the house you mentioned on the internet. Just out of curiosity: Do you want no roof overhang, like the original? The question is completely neutral.
Are there any interior pictures from Lokstedt/Groot Architects? Unfortunately, I couldn't find any.
Actually, yes. We have a 10 cm roof overhang, which visually is almost nothing. I know there are really tangible disadvantages here regarding the protection of the facade. But I really like the modern look and ultimately – as someone else has already written here – in the north (where robust clinker bricks and slips often protect the facade) and with, for example, older settlement houses in Berlin, it's also the typical appearance to have no overhang. I know it looks completely different in southern Germany.
There are interior pictures only of the staircase, where you can still see the living/dining area a bit. Unfortunately, I don't know any more.
Why don't you just build the Lokstedt house then? Its decisive advantage in the floor plan: The living room is actually more of a quiet zone than yours, since it is separated by the staircase and around the corner.
I agree! Unfortunately, my boyfriend vetoed that because he doesn’t want a staircase as a room divider in the living area, once because of his sound system, and then because it’s too inflexible; you can never really get rid of the staircase if you want to rearrange. Although with our current idea, I don’t see much room for rearranging either. So you see, dear , it’s not just my priorities but also those of my boyfriend. And yes, we are the main residents. What our kids will end up liking, no one knows yet anyway (they’re only 3 and 6 years old).
So I do find the staircase a bit of a shame. On the other hand, in the upper floor all bedrooms are oriented to the southwest, facing the garden, and not the staircase, which is also something.
Where can I find the floor plan?
I attached it once. As well as the one I adapted to our functional areas... the Lokstedt homeowners just don’t have a cozy nook, so the workspace is upstairs in the bedroom and there’s more space for the living room downstairs...
