So by now I’m the kind of person who quite likes to retreat to the virtual couch with a bag of chips when things really start to smell like advisory resistance. I’ve been sitting here for a while now (the second bag of chips is almost empty). And unlike ypg, who somehow still believes in the good or at least the advisory-capable nature of people, I gave up on that a long time ago here.
But to illustrate what amuses me and convinces me that the dear OP still doesn’t really know what she ultimately wants and basically only has some pretty examples in mind (house of some architect friends etc.) without having even the slightest idea what is financially feasible and what is possible at all within the dimensions that the tight financial frame allows, here’s the following:

Aha!!!!
What now? La.Schnute had a cute country house in mind in the first post, even asked if the house as planned might look too massive for a country house, and by now she’s rather leaning toward the modern look.
The advice here, partly really good and well-founded, is met with just as much indecision.
Then leave it. You have an idea, do what you want. I would reflect and especially with such a limited budget carefully consider what is really necessary, what is nice to have, and what I can forget about. Nordlys is happy in his little house. Many things he advocates I would never do at all. It fits for him and it’s good. But it’s a difference whether an older couple lives there or a lively family with two kids running around, the mom indulges in sewing, and the man of the house wants an actual sound system but doesn’t want to be disturbed by the sewing machine etc.
So now I’ll finish the second bag and will probably need the third one. This is far from over.

Our requirements were or are:
