Since linear Sat TV is a dying breed anyway, I wouldn't overdo the wiring anymore. Our children will laugh at us when they ask what that socket in their room is. Better to install plenty of Cat7.

We also do star cabling. The cables from the dish through the empty conduit to the multiswitch are more maintenance-friendly.

That's true! But let's be honest: how many LAN ports does one really need there in reality? For us, it would be TV, PS4, Wii, set-top box, and the soundbar. I don't want to have 5 LAN sockets in the wall there, plus maybe 5-6 power outlets and 2 SAT. Then there’s a whole bunch of sockets. That makes it almost impossible to possibly redesign the room in the future. I keep it simple: power strip and switch behind the TV furniture and sockets in moderate numbers. But that's just my personal taste! =)

By additional LAN double socket, I basically meant just one socket with 2x LAN. A double socket takes up just as much space as a single socket.

A switch is always possible, but if you can avoid an extra one, then I think that's good.

Ah okay. That confused me a bit. You're right. The socket is there anyway, so you can also install a double socket.

I am also currently considering what is best for our house. However, I come from cable TV and don't really have a proper understanding of SAT technology. But to be safe, I have pulled 4 coax cables in the conduit on the outer facade to the roof, before it was renovated. I can connect a quad LNB to that, right, or am I mistaken? That means I can supply 4 independent TVs distributed throughout the house, correct? I have at least 2 double CAT 7 sockets on the opposite walls in every room. Is SAT over IP already any good? Although then I would need additional receivers everywhere again, which I actually wanted to avoid. I have been spoiled by cable TV, having to use only one remote control.

Run a cable from the dish to each TV and that's it. Then you can stick with one remote and be set for decades.
