The heat pump will also be defective in 20 years at the latest and a total economic loss…

Very few heat pumps will last 20 years, rather 10 years.

At least the guild speaks of approximately 15 years. From future WPs, I would expect more durability… also in terms of sustainability

Why should they break so quickly? We have a refrigerator that is over 15 years old. It has been making strange noises recently, but it still cools. It will soon be replaced for efficiency reasons.

That would be another reason I could imagine, that the heat pump with an annual performance factor of 3.5-4.5 is then too inefficient and new ones operate at 7-8, and therefore one either replaces them on their own initiative or due to legal incentives before a total failure occurs.

I think it's because the IBN usually runs really poorly and the compressor often has to cycle. Mathematically, the pumps are then worn out after 10 years, even though they could actually last twice as long.

It would be interesting to see what is physically possible. An annual performance factor of 8 would be amazing.

Hello,

that is relatively simple. Just look up Carnot efficiency and the second law of thermodynamics....

With the temperature levels of an air-water heat pump, you theoretically reach maximum possible values around 8-10. But that is in an ideal process without any flow losses, ideal energy transfer, constant temperature levels, and continuous operation of the system. If you factor in reality, you will probably manage to reach 5-5.5 with a lot of love and effort. After that, it's game over. You can definitely forget about a seasonal performance factor of 8.

Best regards,

Andreas
