No, nothing was reduced. Neither domestic data nor international data support that. Peer-reviewed studies show that there is no difference. It is less due to the masks themselves and more to improper handling, but it shows how theory and practice are clearly different.

Well, if I wear the mask below my nose, it works just as well as when worn on the head. Then I might as well wear a carnival hat. However, concluding from that a general ineffectiveness of wearing masks is a bit of a stretch...

Those are just the facts, there are studies and statistics to prove that. Whether you like it or not doesn't change anything. It's like with climate change...

I read in thousands of discussions on the internet about these dubious people who allegedly always wore the mask below the nose, and statistics about them. In reality, however, I have hardly ever seen them. No joke, out of 100 people I might have seen one who was too stupid/stubborn.

If measures are not implemented correctly, they cannot be effective. If a speed limit of 100 were introduced to save CO2 emissions, but everyone still drives at 180, one should not be surprised if the measure does not achieve the desired effect. A condom in the bedside drawer also has no effect, but when used correctly, it does have an effect in a non-negligible percentage of cases. The same applies to FFP2 masks. There are also studies on this and it is confirmed by my professional experience over the past years. Incidentally, the FFP2 mask does not only protect against the coronavirus.

From my practice I can report that far more than 1% did not wear the masks correctly. Among my employees I paid attention to and admonished correct wearing of the mask. They all caught their infection on vacation. And during peak phases, in the daily infection consultation, we had 20-30 patients with a positive rate in the PCR of sometimes over 50%. The everyday practice is of course not a controlled study situation, but it does show that correctly wearing an FFP2 mask protects. Certainly not 100%, but at least somewhat.
