Worst case scenario: I have to retrofit a heat pump in 2024. Hybrid is still allowed anyway – besides, we need the gas heating for the swim spa and the whirlpool, which are to be operated year-round. Consumption-wise, it costs about the same as the whole house. Also for that reason, I find the whole discussion so absurd. Be that as it may.

Another subsidy grabber with a pseudo granny flat for maximum funding. And of course, it’s definitely all Mr. Habeck’s fault. It would have made more sense to go directly with the Building Energy Act and a heat pump if you didn’t want to take the maximum subsidy.

No. You then have to buy a heat pump or hybrid heating system. Simply saying "Yes, I'll buy another heat pump and place it next to it, promise." won't be enough, your gas heating system must not be put into operation. Delivery times for heat pumps currently, depending on the model, are probably around 12 to 18 months.

Please be aware of that. The worst-case scenario is that in January 2024 you throw away your gas heating system (which is paid for) for scrap and order a heat pump that then arrives in mid-2025... because orders will skyrocket from January onwards.

This is already the case in Schleswig-Holstein. The installer is no longer allowed to install a new gas heating system, even if that means standing without heat for 12 months.

I find it absurd when people complain about Habeck but build a [Badelandschaft]. It really can't be that tight with the money ;)

Aha. Habeck is initially not to blame for anything. The de facto ban on gas heating was planned for 2025 anyway; the Greens are just bringing it forward by one year. The outrage mainly comes from the fact that a politician is actually doing what he said before the election.

Everyone expected that they would back out at the last moment. Which would also be understandable, because neither the grid, nor the generation capacity, and certainly not the storage capacity are currently sufficient to rely on heat pumps nationwide. Load shedding of up to 8 hours/day will not change that either. The problem is not the lines, but the available amount of electrical energy.

Currently, one can imagine it as if agricultural produce could not be stored but must be consumed immediately after harvest. That works quite well from spring to autumn, but in winter there is a problem.

In Germany, we cannot even store electricity or electrical energy for a full day.

The confidence with which you present things here is quite bold. This is certainly not the consensus - except perhaps for BILD readers. As if the BMWK didn't have real experts and plenty of reports. But MisterDx obviously knows it all. This forum can really be hair-pulling sometimes. And not to mention the thread starter.

The transition will happen gradually, just like the expansion of the grids, storage, and generation facilities.
